Biography

Youth

Jane Fenn was born in London but came to South Africa when still an infant, and went to school in Johannesburg and Durban. She returned to England as a teenager.

Training

Career

She started her career in England in Concert Variety, Musical Comedy and Repertory. Returning to South Africa in 1950, she worked for Leonard Schach.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

She acted in The House, The Hostage, The Italian Straw Hat, Little Theatre, 1953. Played in Leonard Schach’s NTO production of The Summer of the Seventeenth Doll (1958). She continued working with Schach, becoming a member of his Cockpit Players and playing in Separate Tables (1958), Try for White (1959) and The Birthday Party (1962) in which she played the role of Meg.

She has also appeared in After the Fall, The Aspern Papers, Ring Round the Moon (1964), Barefoot in the Park (1965), Mornings at Seven, The Heiress, Spring Quartet, Come Blow Your Horn, Look Homeward Angel, A Majority of One, Dear Me, The Sky is Falling.
