The Ability Festival was created to expand the conversation about ability/disability and inclusion in South Africa, through the arts. The festival also aimed to provide a platform for artists who are themselves disabled to showcase their talent.
Organised by The Chaeli Campaign[1], in association with the children and youth theatre organization ASSITEJ, at the Masque Theatre in Muizenberg from 4 to 7 March 2015.
The programme included performances of the plays Warrior on Wheels (directed by Jayne Batzofin, In The Wings (directed by Philip Rademeyer of the Rust Cooperative) and a collaborative performance by the Chaeli Dancers (comprising students in The Chaeli Campaign’s regular dance classes) and musician Natasha Meister.
