Mädchen in Uniform [1] is a play (formerly entitled Gestern und Heute) by German writer Christa Winsloe (1888-1944) [2].

Performance history

Produced on stage in Berlin by Leontine Sagan, who also directed the film with the same title in 1931.

Retitled Children in Uniform for English audiences, the play was presented at the Duchess Theatre in London in 1932, again directed by Sagan.

Performance history in South Africa

1933: Leontine Sagan toured South Africa with the play (Children in Uniform) for three months in 1933 on contract with African Consolidated Theatres, with herself in the role of Elisabeth von Bernburg and English actress Aileen Marsden as Manuela.
