Die Reuk van Appels is a novel by Mark Behr [1] (1963-2015). It has been translated into English (The Smell of Apples) and several other languages.

The original text

First published in 1993 by Queillerie.

Translations and adaptations

The novel was adapted for the stage as a solo piece by Johan Smit, also entitled Die Reuk van Appels.

Performance history in South Africa

2017: Produced by Johan van der Merwe and Rudi Sadler for Theatrerocket Productions, directed by Lara Byre, starring Gideon Lombard, presented at the KKNK, National Arts Festival, at the State Theatre, Pretoria, opening 17 September, 3 to 7 October at Aardklop before moving to the Fugard Theatre in Cape Town.

2018: Hilton Arts Festival, 14-16 September.
