The Alexander Upstairs is a small theatre venue in central Cape Town, above the Alexander Bar and Café.
Also referred to as the Alexander Bar, Café and Theatre or the Alexander Bar and Theatre.
Styled a "microtheatre", it came about when Edward van Kuik and Nicholas Spagnoletti, the owners of the Alexander Bar and Café, decided to turn 50m² of unused office space into a small theatre with black surrounds, 44 raked seats, a tiny dressing room and a control desk area.
Offers a festival-style programming model featuring drama, comedy, cabaret, jazz, acoustic sessions, readings and more.
