Anna Romain Hoffman (1899-1995). Director, actress and historian.

Career
Member of Children's Theatre Incorporated and the Johannesburg Repertory Society. As an actress worked for them as well as for professional companies.
A founding member of the Johannesburg Reps.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
She produced On Approval (1939), When We Are Married (1940) and Quiet Wedding (1941); directed The Three Wishes (Children's Theatre Incorporated, 1954).
Among the plays she performed in were Belinda (1945), Tennessee Williams's The Glass Menagerie, directed by Leonard Schach (NTO, 1949), Dear Me, The Sky is Falling (1963).
She co-wrote a history of the Johannesburg Reps with her husband Arthur Hoffman (They Built a Theatre: The Story of the Johannesburg Repertory Society, Ad Donker: 1980).
