The Arcadians is a fantastic musical play in three acts by Mark Ambient and A.M. Thompson with lyrics by Arthur Wimperis and music by Lionel Monckton and Howard.


The original play

First performed at the New Shafstbury Theatre, London in 1909?. Originally published in 1909 by Chappel.

Translations and adaptations

Performance history in South Africa

1910: Performed at the Opera House, Cape Town by The Wheeler Theatre Company in July with a revival towards the end of the same year.

1929: Performed at the Standard Theatre by the Johannesburg Operatic and Dramatic Society ,.
