A member of the Plaat-Stultjes Geselskap in 1930-34, he later founded his own company to tour with Die Teken van die Kruis ("The Sign of the Cross") in 194*? * According to Binge (1969: 177) he apparently at one point also used the stage name of René de la Harpe, under which he founded the René de la Harpe Geselskap (Company) in the 1930s, touring with Die Ewige Driehoek and Op die Weegskaal (Later known as Sonde met die Bure and X.Y.Z.).
