Alexis, ou l'Erreur d'un bon Père is an "opéra comique", in one act by librettist Benoît Joseph Marsollier des Vivetières (1750-1817)[1] and composer Nicolas-Marie Dalayrac (1753-1809).


Original text

First performed in the Théâtre Feydeau 24 January, 1798 ("Représentée sur le théâtre Feydeau, le 5 pluviôse, an 6 de la République").

Published by Maradan, 1803.


Performance history in South Africa

1808: Performed in the original French on 28 May by Het Fransche Liefhebbery Geselschap in the Fransche Liefhebbery Theatre (i.e. "French Amateur Theatre"), Cape Town. The author is wrongly given by Bosman as "Marsollier and Vivetières". Played as an afterpiece to L'Opéra-Comique assiégé (Gillier, Lesage and d'Orneval).
