The Magic Zone was apparently an interlude especially devised for performance on 28th June, 1802 by the Garrison Players in celebration of the His majesty’s birthday.
The evening's entertainment in the African Theatre, Cape Town, also included The Little Hunchback, or A Frolic in Bagdad (O’Keeffe), the ballet-pantomime of The Cunning Wife, or The Lover in the Sack (Petersen) and The Devil to Pay (Coffey).
