Translated from the High German original into Dutch as Vier Schildwachten op éénen Post by C. Sauer. Published by Amsterdam : J.G. Rohloff, 1810.

Performance history in South Africa

1843: Performed in Cape Town South Africa on 1 September 1843 in Dutch as Vier Schildwachten op éénen Post by Door Yver Vruchtbaar, with Blanko, of De Onzigtbare Man (Anon)

1845: Performed in Dutch as Vier Schildwachten op eenen Post by the joint company Tot Nut en Vermaak en Door Yver Vruchtbaar in Cape Town on 28 May 1845, with Het Kasteel van Tourville, of De Hollandsche Zeelieden in Frankryk (Ruysch).

1849: Performed in Dutch as Vier Schildwachten op éénen Post by Tot Oefening en Vermaak on 26 September in the Drury Lane Theatre in Cape Town, as afterpiece to De Neger (Von Kotzebue). There is also a "divertissement" called Geene Bandieten (an original work by an unknown South African author) between the two plays.
