The term koorddans is a Dutch and Afrikaans term, literally translated meaning "rope dancing", and referring to the well-known circus act of tightrope walking[1], i.e. performing by walking or dancing on a tightrope. This is also referred to in some cases by the Latin name, funambulism[2]. A koorddanser is thus a tightrope walker, -performer, -dancer or a "funambulist".
