The original text
Apparently based on a story called The Trials of Grace Huntley by Mrs C.S. Hall in The Amulet: A Christian and Literary Remembrancer. (1833: pp. 79-80. Reprint. London: Forgotten Books, 2013.)[1].
First performed as a "domestic burletta in three acts" at the Adelphi Theatre, London on 14 October, 1833. Published by G.H. Davidson, London 1833(?)

Performance history in South Africa
1855: Performed in Cape Town's Garrison Theatre by the Garrison Players (officers of the 73rd Regiment or Captain Hall's Company) on 28 September 1855 as part of a presentation "for the Patriotic Fund" , under the title Grace Huntley, or The Follies of Youth with the farce Comfortable Lodgings, or Paris in 1750 (Peake).
