Originally written as a tele-play, it was first broadcast April 9 1966 by the BBC in Armchair Theatre (1956–1974) Season 6: Episode 11 as Don't Utter a Note, with Sidney James (credited as Sid James) as "Basher Bates".
South African Productions
1979: Produced in September at the Masque Theatre by The Bergvliet Dramatic Society. Directed by Dorothy Sawdon, with Lieske Bester ("Florence Pringle"), Embla Human ("Nellie Pringle"), Tony Bent ("Vicar"), Ron Fenton ("Basher Bates"), Greg Hughes ("Nick"), Lisette Bester ("Sally"), Norman Sargeant ("Police Srgt. Howlett") and Rory Gilmore ("Arnold Barraclough").
