De Vriend der Kinderen is a collection of plays for young people (in 8 volumes), possibly a Dutch translation of Théâtre à l’usage des jeunes by Madame de Genlis (1746–1830)[1], (though J. Suasso de Lima seems to suggest that it was originally a German collection).

The volumes were a source of plays for a number of Cape Town companies, notably the school run by De Lima himself.
