De Vriend der Kinderen is a Dutch translation of a French collection of plays for young people (Théâtre à l’usage des jeunes personnes, 1779) by Madame de Genlis (1746–1830)[1].

It was a source of plays for a number of Cape Town companies, notably the school run by J. Suasso de Lima.
