Biography

Training

Claire graduated with distinction from the University of Cape Town Drama Department in 1985.


Career

After two years as a member of the CAPAB Drama Company, she freelanced in theatre, film and television. Besides acting, she has worked as Head of the UCT Wardrobe, lectured on stage make-up, and directed and designed for theatre and worked as an accent and performance coach for film. She is also a painter, and she has exhibited and sold her paintings internationally.

Highlights of her theatre acting career include Helena in A Lovely Sunday for Creve Coeur 1990, Masha in The Seagull, Lavinia in Anatomie Titus, Fall of Rome, Wit, Women Beware Women and The Yellow Wallpaper, one of three one-woman shows she toured with in Canada under the directorship of Geoffrey Hyland, French Gray as Marie Antoinette (1995), The Beauty Queen of Leenane directed by Janice Honeyman (Fleur du Cap, Best Actress, 2001),Broken Glass (2011).

Movie work includes The Red Winter, Astor Mansions and An African Dream.

Won Fleur du Cap for Most Promising Student in 1985.
