The original text
First produced on 11 June 1723 at the Lille Grønnegade Theatre in Copenhagen. Pubished in Volume 2 of Comoedier: sammenskrevne for den nye oprettede danske skue-plads, by Gyldendal, 1724.
Translations and adaptations
Translated into German as Der Elfte Junius and published in the collection Drey Lustspiele, Der elfte Junius, in funf akten; Der Pfalzgraf, in drei akten; Ulysses von Ithaca, in funf akten, all in prose: 1745. Also translated by Adam Gottlob Oehlenschläger and published in Holbergs Lustspiele (Part One), Leipzig, 1822
Translated into Dutch by Steven van Estveldt as De Elfde Junius, and credited to Lodewyk Holberg. Published in Vyf Aardige en Vermakelyke Blyspeelen (Part 5) by Steven van Estveldt, and published in Amsterdam in 1768
Performance history in South Africa
1803: Performed in Dutch by the Amateur company Tot Leering en Vermaak on Saturday 24 September in the African Theatre, Cape Town.
1809: Performed in Dutch by the Amateur company Tot Nut en Vermaak on Saturday 29 July in the African Theatre, Cape Town, under the extended title De Elfde Junius, of De Algemene Betaaldag ("The eleventh of June, or the general pay day").
