Performance history in South Africa
Staged in the Market Theatre in April 1998, directed by Swedish director Carl Kjellgren, with John Kani, Jana Cilliers, Arthur Molepo and Bayo Jwayi. This was a co-production between the Market Theatre and the Stockholm Stadsteater as part of an exchange programme that started in 1995.
Translations and adaptations
Friedrich Dürrenmatt wrote Strindberg Without Tears in 1968. Based on the characters and central situation of Dance of Death, it is an independent and quite different play. See Strindberg Without Tears.
