LAITE, Harold J. (19**-) Playwright and Journalist(?*). A member of [[W. Arthur Sewell|W.A. Sewell]]'s [[Garrick Club]] in Cape Town. He wrote the play ''[[By Order of the Governor]]'' in 1947. Author of the one-act plays in English, including ''[[Check-Mate]]'',  ''[[The Fourth Estate]]'', ''[[The Judgement of Cornelis Pienaar]]'', ''[[The Master Gamester]]'', ''[[Playthings]]'', ''[[Postage Stamps]]'' and ''[[Pro-Consul]]''. All published in ''Seven One-Act Plays'' (Cape Town: Citadel Press, 1956). In 1961 [[NTO]] produced his play ''[[The King of Diamonds]]''.

He wrote the play By Order of the Governor in 1947.

Author of the one-act plays in English, including Check-Mate, The Fourth Estate, The Judgement of Cornelis Pienaar, The Master Gamester, Playthings, Postage Stamps and Pro-Consul. All published in Seven One-Act Plays (Cape Town: Citadel Press, 1956).

He wrote the three-act play King of Diamonds about Cecil John Rhodes and Barney Barnato, published by Pioneer in Cape Town in the 1950s and first presented at the Labia Theatre, Cape Town, 1953.
