(1932-2007) Teacher, poet, novelist, critic and cultural leader, editor of ''New Classic'', a forum for black writers, involved as editor in the theatre journal ''[[S'ketsh']]'' and director for some years of [[FUBA]] ([[Federated Union of Black Artists]]). Noted for his writings on black art and culture, and in particular for the provocative statement that “’theatre’ is not part of our [i.e. African] vocabulary” (*** in S’ketsh ****). His published poetry collections include ''Hurry up to It!'' (1975), ''The Blues is You in Me'' (1976), ''The Soweto I Love'' (1977), ''Children of the Earth'' (1983) and ''Selected Poems'' (1984). His novels are ''A Ride in the Whirlwind'' (1981) and ''Rainbow Journey'' (1996). Died: 9 January 2007.
