Man van Keriot is an Afrikaans Biblical drama in five acts by Gerhard J. Beukes (1913 - 1998).
Also known as Judas van Keriot

The original text
Beukes had long had a special interest in the figure of Judas Iscariot[1] and was particularly concerned with the possible motivation for the betrayal.
In 1941 he wrote a one-act play on the matter (apparently his first play), in response to an article by a dr Van der Merwe on the issue and in 1954 he returned to the theme as part of his radio cycle [[Jesus van Nasaret]] (about the birth and death of Jesus).
In Man van Keriot he turned to the full-length drama as form to address the matter.
First published as Man van Keriot by the N.G. Kerk-uitgewers, Cape Town in 1959.
Translations and adaptations
Beukes later reworked the play to some extent, to focus more specifically on the disciple's motivation. The text was published by J.L. Van Schaik under the title Judas van Keriot.
