Pavel Kohout's most notable play and is based on the short story "Thought" by Leonid Andreyev.
The English version opened on Broadway in Ethel Barrymore Theatre in 1976. Performed in English for CAPAB in 1981. (Source: Grütter, Wilhelm, CAPAB 25 Years, 1987. Unpublished research. p 103).
Translated into Afrikaans as Arme moordenaar and first produced by CAPAB in 1986, directed by Pieter Fourie.
