A six week festival of South African culture and arts held in London during April and May 2001. Opened with productions of Welcome Msomi’s Umabatha and ***’s Suip!, the festival included a Freedom Day Concert in Trafalgar Square, hosted by Nelson Mandela and ended with a gala concert in the Royal Festival Hall (entitled Freedom Too and directed by Janice Honeyman), featuring inter alia, Hugh Masekela, Pieter-Dirk Uys, Anthony Sher and Marc Lottering.
