The Scarlet Pimpernel is a 1903 play by Baroness Orczy with her husband Montagu Barstow.

The original text
First performed in Nottingham in 1903, and at the New Theatre in London's West End on 5 January 1905.
Translations and adaptations
The play was subsequently adapted as a novel by the Orczy and published in 1905.
Performance history in South Africa
1912: Presented by the Lang-Holloway Company at the Theatre Royal, Durban (July), His Majesty's Theatre, Johannebsurg (July) and Opera House, Cape Town in October, with Matheson Lang and Huton Britton.
