Hilda Temple (1876-19**) was an internationally acclaimed Shakespearean actress.

Biography

Contribution to South African Theatre

5 May and 2 June, 1876: Performed in Disney Roebuck and his company's East Lynne in the Athenaeum Hall, Cape Town. The leads in the Roebuck productions during the 1876 season were now performed by Disney Roebuck and Hilda Temple, who replaced Miss Berenger.

11 and 13 May and 12, 16 and 24 June, 1876: Portrayed "Ophelia" in Hamlet by Disney Roebuck and his company in the Athenaeum Hall, Cape Town.

31 August, 1876: Performed in The Life of an Actress by the Disney Roebuck company in the Athenaeum Hall, Cape Town.

December 13, 1876: Hilda Temple gave her South African “farewell benefit” performance at the Theatre Royal, Port Elizabeth with extracts from Othello.
