Evanson has a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from Vassar College (1982 - 1986), a Master's degree in Performance Studies from New York University (1991 - 1993), a Master's diploma, in Journalism and Media Studies from Rhodes University (2002 - 2003) and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Cape Town (2018).
His film experience includes The Violent Garden (1990. A short film. Writer/director)[1] and The Daytrippers (1996, actor).
He was married to actress Hope Davis (1987 - 1996, divorced)
Since January 2019 he has been an Cambridge High School English Educator at Generation Schools in Cape Town.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
He was the dramaturg for the multidisciplinary piece Polis done at the National Arts Festival, Grahamstown, in 2012
