Oom Bey, My Pa is a play by Henque Heymans (1985-)
The play tells the story of Beyers Naudé as seen through the eyes of his youngest child and only daughter, Liesel.[1] The text was finalised in 2021 at the Jakes Gerwel Stigting's Paulethuis in Somerset-East, where the author had a residency as part of the NATi Jong Sterre programme.
The play was awarded an ATKV Woordveertjie in 2022.
2022: Produced by Leftfoot Theatre Productions in the Japie Krige Hall in October, as part of the Woordfees in Stellenbosch . Directed by Tara Notcutt with Ira Blanckenberg and Robert Hindley. Stage managed by Amber Fox-Martin with designs by Tara Notcutt and music by Robert Hindley.
