Translations and adaptations
Translated into English as Mostellaria, or the Haunted House by Henry Thomas Riley, published 1912.
Kevin P. Joyce's play When the Cat's Away is loosely based on Mostellaria, transposing the story from Athens to modern day Nantucket.
Translated and adapted into Afrikaans under the original Latin title by Dawid de Villiers, while a student at Stellenbosch University in 1978.

1978: Performed in the Afrikaans version at the USAT Dramafees, by the residences Helshoogte and Lydia at the University of Stellenbosch, on 16 March. Directed by Marlette Lindsay, with Gert Myburgh, Jakes Greyling, Estelle van den Bergh, Anneli Bellinghan, Leonard van Schalkwyk, Ann Ochse, Gielie van der Merwe, Jacques du Preez, Andries du Toit and Gerrie Ferreira. Stage manager Erhard Wolf, assisted by Bruce Rubidge and Reneé Basson.
