The original text
The title of the original and unnamed Dutch play, nor any information about it, could been found to date.
Translations and adaptations
The text was translated and adapted into Afrikaans by J.P. Pienaar, according to the script donated to the Stellenbosch Drama Department archives by Sas Maree in 1999. This is a typed and annotated prompt script, pasted in a accountant's journal, clearly suggesting a production of the Afrikaans version.
Performance history in South Africa
19**?: The prompt copy has a book stamp for Maynie Piek-Joubert of Kyora Studio in Montagu, which suggests the prompt book was used for a performance by the Montagu Drama Club, probably at the annual Montagu Muscadel Festival, of which Ms Piek-Joubert and her husband, P.J. Joubert, were a leading contributor.
