She completed her National Senior Certificate at the Pongola Akademie (1995-1999), then completed a B.Dram degree (2000-2002), a B.Dram Hons (cum laude, 2003) and an M.Dram (cum Laude, 2004-2006) at the University of Stellenbosch. She later obtained a (BA) Honours in Media Theory and Practice from the University of Cape Town (2015-2017).
She started out with a six month stint as Press Officer for the Edinburgh International Festival in 2008, then returned in 2009 to join the staff of the South African Farmer's Weekly magazine, where she worked for 12 years and 7 months, the last six years as full-time Editor.
In 2022 she moved to Business Day to become their Energy Writer.
