Immel Botha (b. Benoni, 24/11/1931 - d. Cape Town, 21/01/2012) was a film producer.
Born Delcasse Immel Botha in Benoni , he was the younger brother of Pierre D. Botha (1927-2005), and produced only one film. Entitled The Desert Inn (1959) , directed by the Austrian filmmaker Walter Klapper, it deals with a fugitive who arrives at a hotel in the desert with a large sum of money. It has been largely - probably justifiably - forgotten, but it did boast an early performance by Pieter Hauptfleisch, who played the hotel proprietor. A project entitled The Man Who Died Twice, which Immel would produce and Pierre direct, came to nothing. Like Pierre, Immel left home at an early age, got a job on the mines, apparently worked in a hat factory, sold insurance, ran restaurants and eventually got into property development. (FO)
