The production premiéred in February 1948 at the Little Theatre in Cape Town, before going on a national tour with the Afrikaans play Altyd My Liefste (a translation of Lessing's Minna von Barnhelm). The NTO productions had 134 performances on its tour through the country, closing in Johannesburg in July 1948.
