Published in Pretoria from 1981 to 1997, appearing twce a year. Edited by Johann Lodewyk Marais (editor), René Marais (assistant editor), and a borad consiting of Johann de Lange, Louis Esterhuizen, Joan Hambidge, Mabel Rossouw, Pieter Uys, Pieter van der Lugt, Thijs van der Merwe and Johan van Wyk.
Ensovoort was published with limited administrative help from the Centre for South African Literary Research]] (CENSAL) at the HSRC.
