He was a marine officer aboard the H.M.S. Boscawen, a leading member of the Boscawen Amateurs, praised for though he may also have been a Cape Town resident.

He is specifically mentioned as the lead Don Caesar de Bazan (Dumanoir and d'Ennery), but almost certainly also appeared in the various other pieces performed by the Boscawen Amateurs company between 29 June 1858 and May 1859, including .
