Leonard Symes was an amatuer actor and producer who lived in Pietermaritzburg before moving to Port Elizabeth. Whilst in Pietermaritzburg he was a member of the Natal Society Drama Group and acted in several of their productions. On his arrival in Port Elizabeth he joined the Walmer Dramatic Society, a section of the Walmer Club.
Contribution to South African Theatre
September 1947: Produced the Walmer Dramatic Society's production of Noel Coward's play Hay Fever.
