Dave Berg was an amateur actor who came to Port Elizabeth from Johannesburg where he was president of the Norwood War Workers, (an organization which organised various concerts and revues for war funds), in 1946. He was instrumental in the founding of PEMADS and was elected vice chairman of the organization.
