As actor
His first major role was as Romeo in the Theatre Workshop production of Romeo and Juliet. He starred as Petruchio in The Taming of the Shrew, Solange in The Maids, and Demetrius in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Other roles include those in Fifth of July, The Dining Room, Vieux Carré, Terre’Blanche, Macbeth (CAPAB 1981), As jy blind is, hoe weet jy waar om jou sigaret te ash? (2003).
As producer
He founded the Hermit Theatre in Durban in June 1978.
Film and Television
On television he was seen in Agter Elke Man as "Steve Anderson", Deon van Zyl is a producer and actor, known for Egoli: Place of Gold (1991), Kampus: 'n Varsity-Storie (1986) and Die Prince van Pretoria (1992). .
Awards, etc
He received the Durban Critics' Circle Award for his contribution to the arts in 1979.
