J.B. Howe ()[] was a playwright and comedian.
Often referred to as "Jabey" by friends and acquaintances.

Biography
He many performances included "George Harris" in Uncle Tom's Cabin (The Boston Theatre, 1857), the lead in Richard III (Saddler's Wells, 1861)
As playwright, his written works include The British Slave, or Seven Years of a Soldier's Life (), Scarlet Dick and the Road and its Riders
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
He came to South Africa as a member of the Disney Roebuck company.
