Career is a play in three acts by American playwright James Henry Lee (1923-2002)[1].

The original text

The play tells the story of a young man who goes to New York from a small town to become an actor and in a way, of the girl who marries him and comes along to share his life. It opened in 1957 Off Broadway and was published by Samuel French in the same year.

Performance history in South Africa

1958: Presented by the Johannesburg Repertory Players at the Alexander Theatre, directed by Leonard Schach, February 1958. In the cast were Ivan Berold, Leon Gluckman, Joyce Grant, Arthur Hall, Robert Lang, Doreen Mantle, Gertrude Miles.
