The Ogre is a play by Henry Arthur Jones (1851-1929)[1].

The original text
A comic satire about the power-play in a marriage, the plot is a variation of Taming of the Shrew, it was first produced at St. James's Theatre, London on 11 September, 1911.

Performance history in South Africa
1912: Performed for the first time in Cape Town by the Alfred Paumier and his company in the Opera House during April. (The title seems to have been wrongly given as "The Orge" by Boonzaier , for it is thus transcribed by Bosman in his 1980 book.)
