In 1920 an American silent film, based on the play, was produced by Famous Players-Lasky and distributed by Paramount Pictures. Directed by William C. deMille, it starred Robert Warwick.
Performance history in South Africa
1898: Performed on in South Africa as The Tree of Knowledge by a company under the management of the Wheeler Brothers, as part of a repertoire that also included A Marriage of Convenience (Dumas/Grundy), Secret Service (Gilette) and My Friend, The Prince (McCarthy). The company included George Hippisley, Wilton Heriot, Jessie Bateman, Mabel Lane and Sallie Booth.
