The original text
An adaptation by Prest of his own novel, The Miser of Shoreditch, or The Curse of Avarice ("An original historical legendary romance of the fifteenth century"), published in 1849, the play was first performed as The Miser of Shoreditch at the Royal Standard Theatre, Shoreditch on 2 November, 1854 and published in Lacy's Acting Edition of Plays volume XVIII. Published in New York as The Miser of Shoreditch]] and termed "A drama by Angelina" (i.e. T.P. Prest) in 1857.
