The Laughing Hyena is a farce in one act by Benjamin Webster (1797-1982)[1]

The original text
Originally performed at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, and first published in 1849, London by Webster and Co. and in the USA by Samuel French in French's minor drama (Acting edition), no. 198.
Seventeen English editions of the play were published between 1849 and 1970

Performance history in South Africa
1861: Performed by the Sefton Parry and his company in the Theatre Royal, Cape Town, on 23 June, with Victorine the Orphan of Paris, or I'll Sleep on It (Buckstone).
