Biography
Born in Thabazimbi, studied Drama at the University of Pretoria. Became a teacher, later principal of the Erasmia Primary School in Pretoria.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
He founded the At Strydom Drama Studio in 1982. By 2007 the studio in Rooihuiskraal had 400 pupils a year. On March 1, 2006 also opened The Entertainer theatre in Centurion, to which is connected a casting agency, TECA. Also organises an arts festival, called Artisculta. He and his pupils perform children’s theatre at the theatre as well as at various festivals in the country.
At writes and performs comedy shows. He writers much of his own material and that of his pupils. His childrens’ works include Brompot & Pinocchio (2005), Konsternasie in die Koningkryk (2005), Mara se Wiegie (2006), His adult performances include Vreemde Vrede (2005), As die Son Sak (2007).
