The original text
The work tells of Madlamini's journey to search for her husband in Egoli, the big city of Johannesburg. While the musical is fully performed in the Xhosa language it is also narrated in English.
Translations and adaptations
Performance history in South Africa
2010: The play premiered at the Ikhwezi Festival, directed by Bongani Titana.
2015: A re-worked verion was selected for the Zabalaza Festival , winning four awards including Best Musical Director and Best of the Festival (I.e. Best Selling Production).
2015:Egoli was then invited to do a run at the Baxter Theatre and Cape Town Fringe 2015 and in
2016: it had two seasons of performance at Theatre Arts Admin and Masque Theatre.
