Caught by the Cuff is a play Frederick Hay (fl. 1860 to 1894)[1]


The original text

First performed at the Victoria Theatre, on 23 September, 1865 and published by L.C. Lacy.

Translations and adaptations

Performance history in South Africa

1868: Performed in the Garrison Theatre, Cape Town, by the Lanarkshire Dramatic Club on 8 October, with An Ugly Customer (Williams).

1869: Performed by the Amateur Coloured Troupe in Cape Town (possibly as a Christy's style Minstrel piece). (See also Amateur Coloured Troupe)
