Translated from an unknown French original by John Poole (1786-1872)[2], it was first performed in the Theatre Royal Haymarket on 25th August, 1821. Published by T.H. Lacy in Lacy’s Acting Edition in 1850.
Performance history in South Africa
1870: Performed in English as Match Making by the Young Men's Institute and Club Dramatic Company, Cape Town, on 25th August, with The Jeweller of St James(Suter/)
