P. Nelson was a soldier serving with the Cape Mounted Rifles in 1862 when the North Lincolnshire Regiment of Foot was posted to the Eastern Frontier of the Cape Colony between 1860 and 1863. His rank is unknown. He was possibly one of the men who were principally employed as post-riders between the different frontier stations.

P. Nelson was a guest artist of the North Lincolnshire Regiment of Foot for one production.
