Dood of Niet Dood ("dead or alive", lit "dead or not dead") is a Dutch tragedy in three acts by an unknown author.

The original text
No trace of a text of, or reference to, such a play with this specific name has yet been found , except for the reference on page 467 in Bosman (1980).
However, it could just possibly be an adapted version of De Losbollen, of De Gewaande Doode ("the vagrants, or the supposed dead person"), a Dutch translation by J. Helders en A. Mars, of Les Étourdis, ou Le Mort Supposé ("the stunned, or the supposed death"). The French play is a comedy in three acts by François Andrieux (1759–1833)[1], first performed by the Comédiens Italiens ordinaires du Roi at Versaille and at the Théâtre-Italien, in 1788. Printed in Paris by Didot in the same year.

1872: Performed in Dutch as Dood of Niet Dood by Aurora II in the hall of the Germania Hall, Cape Town on 4 June, with De Drie Verliefde Schoolmeesters (Brink).
